Thank you for introducing us to a powerful innovation tool
"We recently utilized the services of John Sloggy to integrate the Functional Innovation component of Value Engineering into our product development process (PDP) for the development of an important new core product. The session kicked off by identifying critical user issues that were required by the user and translated that into functions that were necessary, the importance of those functions along with the resources allocated to those functions. This was a valuable addition to our PDP as testified by our participating team members who felt the solutions generated were a level above what we would typically generate without the focus on function and the structure provided by the Functional Innovation process. John truly became an important element imbedded into our development team. Our original understanding of the VE process was as purely a cost reduction tool and that was our intent when we first discussed adding you to our team. Your effotrs resulted in our team acheiving a ground breaking new product which was not on the radar screen before Functional Innovation. ”

Value Based Design, specifically John Sloggy, has been great to work with
“The Value Analysis workshop John worked with us on was requested on short notice and John was very responsive in planning the workshop. He quickly got the team up to speed on the process and the team building that took place was outstanding. The Value Analysis was performed on roadway construction project in a National Park. Therefore, the workshop needed to conform to the National Park Service’s specific guideline, Choosing by Advantages, and John was very well versed in the process. During the workshop John did a great job of walking the team through the process and keeping everyone on schedule. Several of the team members, FHWA and NPS officials, commented that this was one the best and most efficient VA workshops they had attended. We would definitely use Value Based Design on future workshops.”

I really enjoyed the workshop
“I went into the workshop seeking certification but came away with so much more. John Sloggy and Vivian Gilles provided just the right balance of teaching and hands-on learning by experience in a mock VE setting. As an experience value specialist, he led us smoothly along the “how-why” path of every element of the SAVE VE process. It was gratifying to be able to work on a “real” transportation project (VDOT Route 7100) and to come away with the feeling that we had provided VDOT with something of real value for our effort. Having completed John’s Mod 1 class I now feel better prepared and more confident to assist my clients in value engineering their projects.
I will cherish the label “contrarian thinker” always …"
